The Whirlpool near Niagara FallsThe Whirlpool is an area about two miles below Niagara Falls where the Niagara River takes an unusual turn, The result is a huge basin with the full force of the Niagara swirling in a never ending whirlpool.
There is ample parking for the most part or you can take the people-mover system. There are, of course, shops at the top and access to the Spanish Aerocar ride. If you are at the Southern viewing area (shown here), go on the walkway to the back of the shops. There is a wonderful view of the last of the rapids and the Niagara River. Another great way to see the whirlpool is to take the Jet Boat Ride and actually ride into it.
