The Butterfly Conservancy near Niagara Falls

The Butterfly Conservancy is a truly beautiful sight. Millions of butterflies fly free in a huge glass dome. The best time to visit is during the day when there is plenty of sun since the photography will be better and the butterflys will be more active. .

There is an exhibit area as you enter the conservancy with information on these fascinating creatures. 

The inside of the dome is filled with tropical plants providing a natural setting for the residents. As you wander the paths you will see a variety of butterfly species. They request that you don't touch the butterflies, however, be prepared to have them land on you.

Tips

• If your camera has a macro setting, you might want to learn how to use if for close ups.
• Bring a video camera. The sight of thousands of butterflies flying is truly unique.
• If you go too late in the evening the creatures will be settling down and you won't see them flying about.
